How does the system perform in Canadian winter conditions?

The aluminium components are corrosion-resistant and rated for outdoor exposure year-round. In winter, the slats can be fully opened to allow maximum solar gain when heat is beneficial. The systems are used extensively in Germany, Poland, and other northern European climates with similar or more severe winter conditions.

What happens in high wind conditions?

Somfy wind sensors monitor conditions and automatically retract the blinds when wind speeds exceed a set threshold. Side guide channels hold the slats stable during normal wind exposure. For high-rise installations, wind load calculations are prepared for the specific project and installation height.

Can the system be integrated into a building automation system?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Somfy motorisation supports integration with KNX, Modbus, and other standard building automation protocols. Individual zone control, group control, and fully automated operation based on sun angle and temperature sensors are all available.

Is this product suitable for new construction and retrofit?

Accepted Answer

Both. Recessed cassette mounting is standard for new construction and allows the blind housing to be integrated into the facade or window frame. Surface-mounted systems are available for retrofit applications where the facade is already in place.
